My food picks in NYC

I honestly don’t think we had a bad meal in New York. You are absolutely spoilt for choice. We were there for 5 nights and these are my favorite spots…

BòCàPhê

The first place we hit up was “Bo Ca Phe”. We had flown in on the overnight flight from Vegas and were in some serious need of a good breakfast. We were actually heading to a different place but after seeing the que to get in we had a wander at what was near by and came across this cute little gem. Hands down the best pancakes I’ve ever had!

Ippudo, East Village

Ippudo is a cool little Ramen spot in the East Village. We walked down Lafayette St from our hotel which was a good 20min walk so when we arrived we were more than ready to tuck in! I got the Tonkotsu Ramen which was amazing and so were the edamame and fries. The seasoned fries were so good we had to order an extra portion!

Balaboosta, Mulberry St

Like Bo Ca Phe, this was another unexpected find, as again the restaurant we had planned to go to was full. Turns out we we’re happy it was otherwise we would never have tried this special food. It’s food is “Middle Eastern meets Mediterranean”, definitely something a bit different to what we usually go for. I went for the “Israeli st Fair” which is down on the menu as an appetizer but it was most definitely big enough as a main course. I couldn’t even finish it all as of course I had to save a little space for dessert. We were both pretty full so we ordered the “Hazelnut chocolate mousse” to share, we demolished it and had to order a second! It was so delicious I sometimes wish I could hop back on a plane to New York just to pay them a visit.

Piccola Cucina Osteria, Spring St

Last but not least is Piccola Cucina. Now I think it’s safe to say that Italian cuisine is my favourite and I have for sure had my fair share of pizza and pasta over the years even in Italy a couple of time. However I can hands down say that this was the best Italian food I had ever tasted… EVER! I actually came across it online when Lucas was seeing his friends one night and I fancied chilling in the hotel. It was close enough to walk and they also did take out which was perfect so I wouldn’t be ordering a table for one. I ordered the “Lamb Ragu Cavatelli”… Guys! It’s so cool that they serve each dish in the pan which it’s cooked in but honestly I cannot describe how good it tasted! All I can say is everyone (minus you veggie’s) in their lifetime should try this pasta dish. It was insanely good! After obsessing over how good it was we went back within 24hrs as I told Lucas that he had to try it before we left. He isn’t usually a big fan of lamb but he loved it too. The second visit I tried the “Risotto ai fruitti di mare” as I’m a sucker for seafood. That too was pretty god damn special.
